Hamad International Airport, also known as Doha Airport (New Doha International Airport) is the main sole international airport of Qatar's capital. Located in the southeast of Doha, on a manmade piece of land with over fifty thousand workers on such a big project that remains to thrive and surpass its initial capacity.

Facts and Figures

Located south of its capital, Doha, it replaced the former Doha International Airport as Qatar's principal airport.

The distance to downtown is 14.2 km.

The airport’s capacity will increase to more than 53 million passengers annually by 2022.

Every hour 100 take-off and landing movements are possible. That means five planes every three minutes.

This is the first airport ever designed specifically for the A380.

The airport officially opened on 30 April 2014.

Hamad International Airport marked a record number of passengers in 2019 With 38.78 Million passengers served.

Hamad has two runways, the western one is the eighth longest in the world (4850 meters).

The 600,000 sq meters passenger terminal is Qatar’s biggest building. The check-in hall alone is 25,000 sq meters of airy, column-free space.

The baggage handling system can handle 5000 bags an hour, or 120,000 a day.
